Where to Find Replacement Thermocouple for Whirlpool Gas Hot Water Heater

Lowes home centers would be the first place to look; they sell the Whirlpool brand water heater. This is the fastest and most efficient way to find your water heater parts. Not all the Lowes stores will carry the replacement thermocouple for the Whirlpool gas hot water heater. Call the store first to confirm that your Lowes store carries the exact thermocouple you need before you drive all the way down. Your second choice is to call or contact Whirlpool directly and ask them to send you a replacement thermocouple free, if your water heater is still under warranty. Even if it is not, ask them for parts free anyway, never hurts to ask.

The American Water Heater company manufactures Whirlpool water heaters . You can contact them at (877) 817-6750. You may have a different phone number located on your Whirlpool/American water heater. You can also email Whirlpool customer service for this web page- http://www.whirlpoolwaterheaters.com/support/Contact.aspx .

Be aware that some older models of the Whirlpool water heater use a thermocouple with left-hand threads. This means that it screws into the gas valve in reverse of a normal right-hand threaded thermocouple. When you contact Lowes, Whirlpool, or American water heater, you will need the exact model number of your water heater in order to acquire the correct part.

In some cases, you may need to replace the entire gas control valve or even the control and inner door seal to the combustion chamber. You can do this yourself; however, Whirlpool recommends that you hire a professional. Always replace the inner airtight door seal when opening the combustion chamber; this will prevent accidental gaps that could allow carbon monoxide into your home.

Do not try and install a right-hand threaded thermocouple in a left-hand thread waterheater gas control valve, you can easily ruin both water heater components.
